Omeprazone Tablets
Certain issues with the stomach and esophagus (such as acid reflux and ulcers) can be treated with omeprazole.
It functions by reducing the production of acid in your stomach. It eases symptoms like coughing, heartburn, and difficulty swallowing.
This drug helps cure ulcers, heals damage caused by acid to the stomach and esophagus, and may help prevent esophageal cancer. Omeprazole is a member of the proton pump inhibitor (PPI) medication class.
Over-the-counter omeprazole products are used to treat regular heartburn, defined as happening two or more days per week, if you are self-treating with this drug.
Read the Patient Information Leaflet, if available, from your pharmacist before beginning to use omeprazole and each time you receive a refill if your doctor has prescribed this medication for you.
Before taking this medication, make sure you have read and followed all of the advice on the product package if you are using the over-the-counter product for self-treatment.
As prescribed, take this medication orally, ideally once a day, right before a meal.
Your medical condition and response to treatment will determine the dosage and duration of the course of treatment.
The dosage for youngsters is also determined by their weight. Do not use this medication more frequently than prescribed or raise your dosage. See your physician or pharmacist if you have any questions.
Chewing or crushing of delayed-release pills is not advised. By doing this, you can release the drug at once, increasing the side effects.
