Diclofenac Tablets
Diclofenac is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that works by preventing your body from producing certain natural substances that cause inflammation.
This effect helps to decrease swelling, pain, or fever. Ask your doctor about non-drug treatments and/or using other medications to treat your pain.
Diclofenac is available in enteric-coated tablet form. It is used to reduce pain, swelling (inflammation), and joint stiffness from arthritis.
Reducing these symptoms helps you do more of your normal daily activities.
Prior to beginning of diclofenac therapy and each time you receive a refilled, read the medication guide that your pharmacist has provided. See your physician or pharmacist if you have any questions.
As prescribed by your physician, take this medication orally two to four times daily.
Unless your doctor instructs you otherwise, take this drug with a full glass of water (8 ounces or 240 milliliters).
For at least ten minutes after taking this medication, avoid lying down. If this drug upsets your stomach, you can take it with food, milk, or an antacid.
This could, however, impede absorption and postpone pain alleviation.
Take the tablets whole. Avoid chewing, crushing, or breaking the tablets. This may exacerbate an unsettled stomach.
WARNING
.Diclofenac is one of the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications that very infrequently may raise your chance of having a heart attack or stroke.
While this effect can occur at any point while using the medication, long-term use increases the likelihood of occurring.
If you have heart disease or are at higher risk of developing heart disease (for instance, because of smoking, a family history of the disease, or disorders like diabetes or high blood pressure), your risk may be higher if you are an older adult.
Take this medication neither before nor after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG).
Additionally, this medication may sporadically result in severe (rarely deadly) bleeding from the intestines or stomach.
While using this medication, this effect may happen at any time without any prior warning signs.
