Atorvastatin Tablets
A drug called atorvastatin is used to reduce the amounts of lipids called triglycerides and cholesterol, which helps avoid heart attacks, angina, strokes, and heart disease.
Atorvastatin calcium is a member of the HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (statin) drug class.
In order to reduce the amount of cholesterol that could accumulate on the artery walls and obstruct blood flow to the heart, brain, and other areas of the body, atorvastatin calcium works by slowing down the body’s creation of cholesterol.
When taken in conjunction with diet, exercise, and weight loss, atorvastatin can lower the risk of heart attack and stroke as well as the likelihood that heart surgery will be required for those who already have heart disease or are at risk of getting it.
